State Rep Candidates

Postby Debra Huffman » Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:03 pm

We have 10 people running for 8 State Rep seats. I don't know anything about two of them - Tracy Allen Coyer and Daniel Oberlander. Can anyone give me any insight into their positions?

Also, I'm sorry to see Chris Christensen's name not among the State Rep candidates, but I wish him well in his bid for County Commissioner.

everyone needs to remember to look for Chris's name down the bottom of the ballot instead of his usual
spot along with the other state rep candidates :-)

I'll pass your kinds words on to him, Deb - he does not read here

The patch has been running bios for some of the candidates but it's not a complete list:

Is there a complete list of all the names posted anywhere?

Whatever we do, we MUST get rid of Kurk.

Thanks John!

Two names that stand out on the republican side are Phil Straight and Richard Barry.

Phil does so much behind the scenes in this town. I think people would really be shocked if they knew all he did. And he does it quietly, not one of those people who like to go around bragging about the things they did. He's by far the top choice from either party.

Richard Barry is the other great choice. Besides Phil he's the one other candidate my wife and I both strongly agree on. Richard has continually received high rankings from the NH Liberty Alliance, once even being rated the most pro liberty rep in the entire state.

My apologies, John. I omitted the words "Republican ballot" from my post. My point was only to get info on two people I don't know. I meant no slight to those on the Democratic ballot.

And thank you for putting your name forward for State Rep, John. I wish you well.

That's correct. I forgot he wasn't Merrimack. Sorry.

Deb,

I don't know Mr. Oberlander but Mr. Coyer did come in and talk to the Town GOP committee. I don't recall seeing a bio from him in the Patch series but what I recall from his talk to the committee is that he retired on disability from the Worcester, MA PD. I think he moved to town back on 2007 or so. He's aparently worked as a political researcher in the past and decided to throw his hat in the ring. That is all I can recall. I may have the year he moved to town wrong but it is right around that timeframe.

Hope that helps,
Gary

Thanks for the info, Gary. I hope the Patch posts bios of all candidates, but at least now I have some info to go on.
