Amherst Road Culvert Replacement Project

Postby Tom Mahon » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:51 am

The Department of Public Works has contracted with CSSI to replace four corrugated metal culverts that cross Amherst Road with a precast concrete box culvert. Additional work will include upgrading the guardrail and adjusting the road profile to improve sight distance. The $360,000 project will begin on July 23, 2012.

The work will involve daily traffic restrictions to one lane for most of the project and a complete road closure for 10 calendar days beginning on August 1. There will be a detour route set up along Naticook and Peaslee Roads during the road closure.

Work is scheduled to begin on July 24. On Friday 7/27, and Monday 7/30 there will be a planned water shutoff to allow for the installation of the box culvert. Water will be shut off between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on those days. Residents affected include those with MVD water service living on Amherst Road between Meetinghouse Road and Lester Road, and the residents on Riverside Drive, Davidson Avenue, and Piedmont Avenue.
