Black Bear on Woodward Road

Postby wncollette » Thu May 31, 2012 5:55 pm

On my way home at 6:20 this evening I passed a serious Black Bear on Woodward Rd midway between Parkhurst and Hitching Post.

This guy or gal was at least 200 pounds and looked to be in great health. I saw no evidence of cubs.

Those in the area may wish to remove their bird feeders tonight...just as a precaution.

Please remember though that Black Bears are very, very skittish and rarely do any harm to humans.

Keep your distance and both you and the bear will live happily forever in peace and harmony...

I think I saw this same bear walk through my yard yesterday morning (I live off Woodward near Parkhurst), I've heard of a few sitings in the neighborhood over the last couple of months so it sounds like he is settling into the neighborhood. It might be a good idea to skip putting any bird seed out this year altogether.
