Torch Run - May 31st - Can you help?

Postby Tim Tenhave » Sat May 19, 2012 7:08 am

Hi Everyone,

The annual torch run for Special Olympics is happening on Thursday May 31st. If you are not familiar, it is a law enforcement run in support of special olympics. It also draws in students of the High School and likely Middle School. The run is part of a bigger run that spans our great State. See: http://www.sonh.org/support-and-fundrai ... h-run.aspx

The event starts at approximately 7am and ends about 10am. The run starts at the South border of Merrimack and goes straight north up DW Highway to the North border. Along the route there are water and rest stations.

1.) The event needs volunteers to help manage the water/rest stations and assist the runners.

2.) The event needs folks to come out and cheer and encourage the runners. This is very important. The encouragement is great, especially in the last few miles.

3.) Lastly if you are a runner and want to participate, you can do that as well. This is fundraiser and there is sign-up process you need to follow.

*** If you want to participate as a runner or make a donation, please contact Sgt. Levesque at BLevesque@MerrimackNH.Gov or SRO Mike Murray at the High School. Act fast, though.

*** If you have time to volunteer for even a portion of the time, your help is very welcome. Please contact Lisa Mooney at 603-325-5622. You can also send me a message or email me as well at tim.tenhave@comcast.net and I will put you in contact with Lisa.

There will be T-shirts for volunteers and a BBQ lunch for runners and volunteers afterwards.

Support our community runners, support Special Olympics.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

The run is tomorrow morning. If you are traveling on DW Highway tomorrow morning between 8am and 10am and you see runners, you will know why.

Be sure to wave and cheer them on. They are raising money for a good cause.

If you are traveling North on DW Highway during that time period, be careful for the runners and realize there may be slight delays.
