Access Denied / Forbidden errors?

Postby Brian McCarthy » Thu Jan 13, 2005 11:05 am

Has anyone else been seeing 'access denied'/Forbidden errors while viewing the forum? This started yesterday for me, from several locations (so its most likly not an issue with the browser/system I was using at the time)

I've had errors logging in, viewing pages and logging out.

It clears itself after a while.

Thanks,

Brian

I haven't had any problems, but there's a large window of time every day I don't check on the site. If anyone discovers a problem, email me -> mailto:fairbanks@alum.wpi.edu and I'll check into it.

The cause has been identified (as with most software issues, by chance!)

The forum scripts create a session ID which it tacks onto the requests being sent to it. If that session ID happens to end with "cc", you will get the forbidden error message.

Its random, clearing cookies will usually solve it from the browser end, until the next time you're unlucky enough to get a session id assigned that ends in cc.

Why 'cc' causes the problem is being looked into.
