Thank you Merrimack Staff

Postby dgyakuboff » Wed Jul 07, 2010 11:44 am

In speaking with many people in town, everyone complimented on how well the 4th of July celebration went. I just want to point out that the town staff did a lot of hard work to make it all happen. The event came in well under budget and went off without a hitch. The staff put many hours into making sure the townspeople would be happy with the event. I would like to personally thank all the staff who helped make it happen. All to often you hear bad, but never good. Next time you see one of the towns staff in your travels to town hall or even out on the street doing chores, make sure you thank them.

For any of the staff who may follow the forum, please pass it on to the others for a job well done.

Thank you staff of Merrimack.

That is wonderful news. I didn't attend any activities but I am glad that all went wel and under budget as well.

Thank you to all who worked hard to make it happen.

I watched most of the parade and was also impressed with number and variety of groups.

I was down at the checkin spot for a bit before it started and the town staff was all there and seemed to have the organization well in hand.

Congratulations for a job well done

Me too!

Well done! I watched the parade from the Town Hall property and was very impressed by the participants and quality of the parade. It was great to see the politcals at the end as well :D

The ladies from Town Hall and the rest of Staff did one fine job.

Always glad to see flags, Police assistance and trash buckets too. Another part of how well our Town employees support the community events.

Did not catch the fireworks but am glad to know they went off well.

I agree with the other posters. I thought the parade went great as did the whole day ( as long as you had plenty of water). I also missed the fireworks but heard they were great.

The fireworks were great, especially the finale. There was this HUGE white display that felt like it took up the whole sky. I haven't seen anything like it. Very fun.

Personally this year makes me question the Rotary's handling of prior years even more then I did before.

The few years they hand their hands on it the budget was double that of this year and prior years and I saw no difference in quality. In fact I think this was one of the better years I remember since moving here. The parade was outstanding.

The only thing I saw missing this year was allowing political groups in the midway which I don't understand why that was cut considering they set up their own stuff so it's not really impacting the cost to the tax payers.

The midway was run by a profit making company that Kevin Lemos owns.
Maybe he did not want political groups competing with him.
For a number of years Kevin used to run the sausage, fried dough and slush stands at Pride games when they were in the Atlantic League.
He has many contacts in this line of work.

I asked Kevin about the political groups when I ran into him on 7/2. He shared that he wanted the day to be family focusing on family, not politicians taking the attention away from that. I respect his decision as I can't think of a political group selling refreshments at a July 4th event. There was a NFP group (Science club from MHS?) selling Snow Cones, so I don't think it was a profit thing at all.

Just to be clear, the Rotary was making a profit on the midway also. It was a fundraiser for them.
