I also ride a human powered bike--- every once in while.

I agree with you as there is no suspension on most bicycles--- making for a rough ride given the issues with our roads...

I agree, it can be quite painful on a road bike. I had to get a new saddle...

So, I have been waiting to see when the DPW will begin the road repairs this year.

e.g., Baboosic Lake road between Joppa and Town Hall: There are a number of issues and on the bridge, people traveling west typically veer into the center to avoid the delaminations etc. causing some hazards to people traveling east.

As this is a heavily traveled road I am quite curious why these issues have not been addressed --- and it is now Memorial Day :x :x :x

Perhaps Merrimack Cares should get out there and fix the roads.

I travel that stretch 3-4 times per day and even more on weekends and I do exactly what you are saying, veering into the other lane to avoid the mess on the bridge. I can undersatnd the DPW not knowing about problems on every street (residents should report issues in their area) but this one is quite obvious and is on a main artery.

Joe,

Isn't that bridge under the state and not the town?

Why? they pay taxes just like everyone else.

By the way - regarding your dopey saying.
War isn't a failed policy. War or threat of overt wart is usually the ONLY thing that settles things.

Has the UN ever settled anything with all of its talks? Let me know which crisis has been settled with talks.

Regarding sayings....BRAVO to your statement Jeannine!! Although I find myself leaning, somewhat, towards the moderate end of conservatism, I can't stand how the welfare system is grossly abused in this country. The people who truly need it don't or can't use it. It was put in place as a catalyst to help people out who were down on their luck to become self sufficient again. Instead it is abused, mostly, by people who are lazy or believe they are "entitled" to it. In many families it has become a practice passed down from generation to generation. Nothing like being in a bank and seeing the grandmother, mother, and daughter (naturally a teenager pushing a baby in a carriage) all in line on the 1st of the month cashing their checks. True story, witnessed by me in the Boston area about 12 years ago. And before someone tries to play the racist card with me, this was a Caucasian family.

Joe - keep your fingers crossed - they had flagman signs and a group of town trucks in the legion parking lot this morning - looks like work on the overpass area. :D

I didn't drive that way today but my wife told me they were fixing the holes.

Praise the lord and pass the mashed potatoes!

So they did a cut and fill of the 2 lower areas on the lake Rd overpass - but NOT the one further up the incline. Not on the bridge itself, but still on the abuttment. huh? Is there some magic "state owns to here, town owns to here" line? I don't understand...... :?

I believe that the state owns the bridge since it goes over the highway.

I noticed that they only fixed the lower holes!

Perhaps the state is responsible for the bridge itself but these holes are near the top of the incline...

The city of Concord hired a private contractor to repave Hazen Drive - a half mile. It's been almost two months, and they're barely halfway done. Who did the work in Merrimack? Was it a private contractor or the Town?
